This temple up on a hillside was the setting for a prayer ceremony for animals recently. It was performed at the height of summer, when dogs are consumed the most in Korea, and so dogs were very much in everyone's prayers.

Unlike some temples, this one is very colorful and bright inside. The solemn occasion was well attended.

Here you see the head monks presiding over the ceremony. Note the water bottle at bottom left. It was a very hot day.

Typically the majority of the crowd were women. That is common in Korea with regard to gatherings in support of animal welfare, I am sad to say.
