A memorandom service for the spirits of animals was held in a Korean Budhhist temple in september. The purpose of this religious ceremony was to pray for and wish the dead animals happiness after death. In buddhism, the god of death, Ji-Jang Bosal takes care of sprits of all dead creatures, including animals, and in the memorial service everyone entrusted Ji-Jang Bosal with the spirits of all beloved animals.
The event was quite unique, as the blessing, prayers, and food offerings all animals was granted with special permission by the Supreme Monk of the Buddhist Association of Korea. This was an unprecedented move, but let's hope we see it more often.
One thing that to note that apart from the Buddhist monks, there were few men there. Most participants were woman.
