On May 29, 2010, a KARA member Yang Jung Wha gave a lecture about animal rights at Onju Middle School near Suneung Station (Gangnam area).

The lecture wasn't just about dogs but also covered issues concerning farmed animals, such as cows, pigs and chickens, etc. They watched a movie on the topic and afterwards had a general discussion.

The school teacher wanted the students to learn about animal rights. He also wanted a lesson in which the students could be involved in volunteer work.

So the intention was to go to a shelter, but in the end there wasn't time.

Instead, the students went to a kind of theme park zoo for children. They were excited at the beginning. But after arriving there and having a look around, they were not very impressed by the small spaces the animals had to live in.

Here they are taking a break.

The lecture continued at the theme park.

Lecture and Trip for Dream School PDF Print E-mail

Students receive some bad news about animal welfare.

On April 28, 2010, two girls that work for KARA, Sora and Jeong Wha, gave a lecture about animal rights at the "Dream School." Dream School is an alternative school for kids who cannot or don't want to fit into regular schools. It's a bit like a Montessori school.

The lesson on animal welfare was part of the teacher's program on the subject of sharing.

Basically the kids were given a lecture, shown a film and then they had a discussion about all of the issues.

kara_dreamschool3

Later, on May 4, the KARA girls took the same kids to Maseok Shelter and introduced them to some volunteer work.

kara_dreamschool4

It was the real deal. They did regular volunteer work just as any KARA volunteers might have done.

kara_dreamschool5

As usual, while some cleaned inside the shelter, others took dogs for a walk.

Sometime after that, the teacher and students went by themselves to two other shelters, Aesinwon and Bansongwon.

kara_dreamschool8

The teacher sent pictures to KARA of those outings.

kara_dreamschool9

They got some tough jobs to do.

The students also attended a screening of the documentary produced by KARA called The Meat Dog, Guidong.
