At dawn on June 17, 2009, a member of KARA witnessed a white Jindo dog being hit by a car. Sadly, it was a hit and run--the car immediately sped away. With no time to waste, the KARA member immediately rescued the dog and took it to a veterinarian.

Unfortunately, the Jindo had received a serious injury, and it seemed as if he were paralyzed in his lower body. The veterinarian soon established that indeed the Jindo's spinal cord was permanently damaged.

The Jindo, subsequently named Jaram, refused to eat anything, perhaps because he was too shocked after the accident and because of the confusion from the paralysis. The vet began to worry about Jaram's health and psychological condition. Another problem was that owner could not be found to assist with Jaram's ongoing medical care. It such a sad situation that the vet was considering euthanasia.

But someone was found who was prepared to act as a temporary guardian. That is the person who gave Jaram his new name and who continues to look after him with love and care.

Jaram has been recovering well since finding a temporary foster home. He only ate dry milk at first, but is now eating dry foods.

However, pretty soon Jaram began to develop decubitus ulcers, which are a consequence of his constantly having to sit in the same position. These wounds, when they first appeared, were disinfected and stitched, but it looked highly likely that they would recur because of Jaram's paralyzed and helpless condition.

That was until a sponsor stepped in and offered Jaram a free wheelchair! A wheelchair should help him get around and take care of the ulcer problem. What Jaram needs now is to get back his mental health and begin a life as one of the disabled.

First of all, he needs a family that will love and care for him. If you know of anyone who can help, please contact us now!
