Maseok Gets A New Fence PDF Print E-mail

maseok_fencing5

The materials waiting out the front of Maseok Shelter.

Maseok was in a terrible condition and it desparately needed proper fencing. Finally, some funds were available for it and work began.

maseok_fencing4

Initially trenches were dug for where the concrete would go for the fencing base. There was no choice but to work around the dogs.

maseok_fencing10

Here is how the same area looks with the fencing in. Quite a difference!

maseok_fencing9

This is the end result in another section. The concrete isn't even dry here and the dogs are already in their new homes.

maseok_fencing7

Here's another section with all the puppies in together. It was temporary until their new area was done.

maseok_fencing11

Some parts like the section below, without concrete under the door, will need to be finished another day.

maseok_fencing2

Everything is so much neater and now they have some excellent roofing to keep out the rain.

maseok_fencing8

Now this is progress. Maseok is finally looking organized.

Maseok Shelter PDF Print E-mail

At Maseok Shelter, fencing was needed and proper housing for the all of the dogs. The pictures here are what it was like before the construction began.

Ironically and sadly, not far from this shelter, in sight of it, is a dog slaughterhouse. But KARA is doing something about it.

maseok1

Clearly, fencing and proper housing is a priority.

maseok2

All the space available is taken up with dogs and makeshift dog homes.

maseok4

And there are cats, too!

maseok6

At least the dogs have plenty of roofs to shelter under.

maseok7

Some dogs homes have been put together with bits of boarding.

maseok8

Old cupboards make fairly decent dog kennels.

maseok9

Many dogs have to remain changed as they have not been neutered. At this shelter, the females are kept on one side and the males on the other.

maseok10

Some dogs live on table tops.

maseok11

Despite the veritable junk yard they live in, the dogs seem happy enough.

maseok12

As least here they are safe, cared for by devoted volunteers and are well feed.

maseok13

It's hard to understand how people can abandon and betray these dogs.

maseok14

This shelter has the usually small "apartment dogs," like this seemingly bewildered fellow, and quite a few large dogs. Its outerlying, country location explains the higher prevalence of larger dogs.

maseok15

Unfortunately, many of these have to be chained.

maseok16

The shelter also have a number of puppies.
